Monsoon Season

It is "Monsoon Season" here in Singapore.  We basically explain to our kids that this is their winter, except the colder temperatures and snow, it rains!  These pictures do not do it justice.  It either rains or it pours.  The sidewalks and the roads become rivers...literally.  It does this 1-3 times a day.  It does it for 30 minutes to 3 hours.  It lasts about 3 months.

The kids walk home from school.  They leave their shoes on the front doorstep.  Becuase of the high humidity, I bring them in at night in hopes for them to finish drying off inside.  If they don't have an umbrella, they take their clothes off once they enter the front door.  You could wring them out, I just put them straight in the washing machine.  The wet, open umbrellas are usually piled up outside.  More dry umbrellas sit just inside the door in a basket.  There is a large towel sitting there to set on and dry off feet and legs.  One of my pairs of sandals have been sunk in depths of water so many times that they sit outside permanently only for that continued use.
