And back down we went. The cluster of reddish-roofed buildings down below is a form of a Chinatown:
There are some touristy and some unique places to shop in the Chinatown village. We picked up a big, wooden elephant here...which Sarah had been on the hunt for. Good thing we'd driven instead of flown...just found a spot in the van when we left!
We also checked out the Temurun Waterfalls. It was a short, but steep hike. When we parked, there were monkeys all over the place. The first picture below was taken from INSIDE the car. The second one is the monkey sitting on top of the car we parked behind. The owner and friends came to get in and couldn't. The monkey would not leave even when they set the alarm off. Fortunately, it was comical to all:
Jeremy and I did not get in, the kids said it was cold. It ended up being one of their favorite activities, though:
