Summer Vacation--Day 6

Thursday, June 29

From the Trail of Tall Cedars, you can turn off and hike up to Avalanche Lake.  It is about 2 miles and is only 500 feet higher in elevation.  While doable, even for families, it is a bit of a hike.  It took us at least 2 hours, including a couple stops.  We went up and down in elevation multiple times, making it a bit strenuous and tiring.  But, definitely worth it.

McKenna and Sarah went in Glacier Lake--and it was FREEZING!

Parker practiced skipping rocks and we relaxed in the sun, including eating snacks and drinks we had packed.

 McKenna took a few pictures:

Jeremy tried to throw Parker in:

More rock skipping and throwing on the way back:

We came back to Lake McDonald for a boat tour:

We played chess and had a (slightly pricey) but very, very good dinner at the McDonald Lodge.  We enjoyed more ice cream at one of the shops just inside the east entrance.  Parker has found that he enjoys anything with huckleberry, especially in his ice cream.
