Saturday, May 26--We were looking forward to driving an hour and a half north up 395 to Mount Whitney and hiking from the parking lot to Lone Pine Lake, at the point in which you need to have a permit to hike any further. However, we arrived at the parking lot to find that it was 40 degrees, cloudy, windy and sprinkling. We were not that prepared.
So, we drove 10 minutes back down the mountain to sunny 80 degree weather and Alabama Hills.
After that, we went another 15 minutes north up the 395 to Manzanar, a Japanese Internment Camp and National Historic Site.
