the Observation Deck

I had not yet visited the Observation Deck at the Marina Bay Sands.  This was at the top of the list of things to do for my dad.  So, after finishing the Gardens by the Bay, we walked across the Dragonfly Bridge (over the highway) to the hotel.  Tickets run SG$20 per adult, and it is worth it, especially on a beautifull, clear day!

Starting where we came up on the elevator, and making a u-shape, you will first see the two domes (Flower Dome and Cloud Forest) with the Supertrees and part of the Dragonfly Bridge that we walked across:

There are always lots of boats out waiting.  We are one of the busiest ports in the world:

You also see a "dam" where they stop the water from the Straits of Singapore from coming into the bay, called Marina Barrage.  Then, more of Gardens by the Bay with apartments behind:

From the other side, we begin to really see the city.  Down below on the left is a permanent stage area that they have set up for outdoor performances.  Also, just barely in the bottom left corner of the picture is a part of the lotus flower shaped ArtScience Museum:

These two domes are called the Espalandes and were designed to look like the "popular" fruit the durian.  Behind them is St. Andrew's Cathedral:

I skipped around the bay to the historic Fullerton Hotel located at the bottom of this picture.  Just behind/to the right is the Ancient Civilizations Museum.  They both sit on the Singapore River, which has a bumboat traveling down it.  Along the other side of the riverfront are a lining of shophouses.  That part of town is known as Boat Quay:

Off in the distance, I found our old apartment--the one we lived in for 2-1/2 months while we looked for our current house.  If you can see the three tall white buildings, similiar to each other that dominate most of the picture, you can see the two reddish pointy buildings that sit right behind.  That's where we were:

Skipping more tall buildings, and moving around, you can catch a glimpse of part of the port, and the tip of the hotel's Sky Deck:
