New Driver

We have a driver!

Allison turned 16 overseas.  Then, upon moving to California, we learned of the driver's license process for those under 18:
1.  Enroll in and take the 30 hour online training course
2.  Wait for certificate of completion to come in the mail
3.  Take certificate to the DMV and complete/pass the written exam
4.  Get certificate of completion and official driver's course paperwork
5.  Set up appointment for first 2-hour private behind-the-wheel driver instruction
6.  Upon completing first session, begin six-month time period (no less) of completing two more driver instruction sessions and 60 hours of behind-the-wheel practice with parents (including 10 hours at night)
7.  Upon completing private sessions, and 6 month wait time, take signed official document and parent into DMV for (behind-the-wheel) driver's test
8.  Upon passing at the six month mark, come back the next day to pick up driver's license because they really can't test, pass, and issue until six months and one day
9.  Have provisions set until the age of 18 (restricted hours, no passengers, etc.)

In the middle of this, be sure to purchase a car, insure the car, and insure the driver.
